The ice bucket challenge is a campaign that's created for ALS awareness, a disorder also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. the challenge entails when a person is being proposed to douse his/herself with a bucket full of ice water, which is something that is a bit foolish and dangerous to do, your then suppose to take video post it on social media or rather don't accept the proposal but be part of charity by donating to the ALS awareness. Now the tense and exciting part about the contest is not only does it help to raise and contribute to the charity but people tend to enjoy and make it amusing by being creative to use social media to persuade each other, using also water full of ice for all types of communities and individuals to participate in the challenge. South Africa is now one of the countries that is intrigued that they now have joined the challenge. The big question is why?

The purpose of having the challenge in South Africa was that not all South Africans know about ALS neither did I. An Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis is a disorder also recognised as motor neurone diseases in South Africa . Both ALS and MND produce effects that resembles the symptoms such as difficulty in speaking, muscle spams, difficulty in swallowing , breathing and stiffness in movement that eventually the person is paralysed. It is unfortunate that not all of the South Africans know about the disease. Now the campaign's idea of using social media and sites to tag peoples by using the #ALS ice bucket challenge is a way to keep the updates of the changing world so that by learning about the disease effectively can help the public to identify and have enough knowledge about ALS
